About Us

Sarah has spent her whole working life in conservation, starting in the conservation department of Lancashire Museums Service in her hometown of Preston in 1987.

From there she moved to London to work as the assistant to the Head Paper Conservator at the Courtauld Institute Gallery at it's then new home on The Strand. Here she gained experience of working on the exceptional collection of prints and drawings by artists including Michelangelo, Durer, Leonardo De Vinci, Canaletto, Van Gogh and Picasso.

Realising her future lay in paper conservation Sarah attended Camberwell College of Art to study for a BA Hons.

After graduating she gained more experience at the National Museum and Galleries on Merseyside, the Fitzwilliam Museum Cambridge and in the private studio of Bates and Baskcomb, who offered her a fulltime position in their busy practice.

In 2001, after a number of years at Bates and Baskcomb Sarah set up a studio to focus her knowledge and understanding of paper conservation on her own work. She now regularly works with many clients including Julia Korner Fine Art, Sotheby’s, Forum Auctions and Bernard Jacobson Gallery, as well as many private collectors.

Sarah is a member of The Institute of Conservation and The Museums Association. She upholds the ICON Professional Guidelines and ECCO Code of Ethics. She keeps up to date with new developments in conservation, regularly attending workshops, talks and conferences.
